the seller made a mistake and admitted it. You should be made whole, and not have to pay shipping. if seller tries to make you eat the shipping costs, but refunds the watch price, you should name and shame him.(after the check clears). Everyone makes mistakes. You should state clearly to the seller what it will take to satisfy you. If he does the right thing, you should tell the world that, too.

A quick update on what has happened.
I spoke to a watchmaker I know who gave me a price to change the crystal & polish up to look like new again. I gave this price to the seller who has agreed to cover the cost and is sending me a partial refund. I should have the watch in a few days, I'll post some pictures so we have a before and after |

I'd be miffed too but being in the UK I'd be reluctant to return due to hassle & waiting around, so long as all else is fine the scratches can be sorted well with a Cape Cod cloth....I'd email the seller along with photos of the marks & ask for a part refund if possible, that or return if it really bothers you

no offense mate, but a Cape Cod won't touch most of that, and you don't want the satin/brushed (what's left of it) finished facets, to go shiny, which is what a CC cloth would do!

They lied to you, sadly. It's that simple.
Glad you had a resolution that you can live with. You might want to post the info on the seller, however, on the Watch Out section, explaining the resolution as well as the initial problem. |

You can only polish a watch a finite number of times before you loose the sharpness of the case lines. To me, simply paying for the cost of a polish and crystal replacement is inadequate compensation, since a polished watch is worth less than a like new watch.

Well here it is, back to it's former glory !!! (Except the dust, but I'm at work)
I've got to say, this watch is ace !!! I know alot of people have slated the movement in this watch, to a point were I was dubious about buying one, but in 2 days it has gained 1 second !!! Thats better than an of the Sub's, Daytona's, YM's or GMT's that I've owned over the years. My current SubC (below) gains approx 3 seconds per day |

If you got a decent deal and you love the watch, then keep it. simply grab a scotch brite pad and give it an even wipe and your scratches are off. those scratches look like they were collected in a months use.

Its because they need proper care and service with the correct oils and grease etc.IMHO its a fine chrono module with the excellent ETA 2892 and cannot see any reason with proper service to last a life time and beyond, myself would have no problem buying one.And I would not think that Rolex would have put this combination, into any Rolex Tudor watch if they thought it would ever be a problem movement, and they did not have the skills to service them or have the parts for many many years to come,enjoy your watch in good health for many years to come..
