Looking to Purchase Breitling Navitimer, need your advice

Hi, I'm a new member here. I've tried to do some research in this forum lately. sadly, I can't find the decent thread about the navitimer. What series are there, price range, and more importantly how to differentiate between the fake and real (I don't want to get screwed for my first breitling purchase)? please enlighten me. thanks in advance!

Though there are some Navitimer threads here, and TRF is my favorite watch forum. Your best bet for indepth information would be to check out breitlingsource.com as Breitling is their primary focus over there. There is a lot of great information on that site about various models, movements, etc. I know many members here who also have several breitlingsource frequent there as well.

The Navitimer is a great classic watch. Good luck in your hunt!

Yep Breitlingsource is the place to browse lots of info.

In the last couple of years they put their own in-house movement into the navitimer. That's what the 01 means. And bumped up the price a lot. The older one is still a good-un, but with an ETA movement.

I would get down to your local AD, at least try it on so you can familiarise yourself with it.

I would visit a Breitling authorized dealer to see the watches

Breitling source has a fakes section where you can post pictures of any Navitimer you're looking at and the experts there can give you their opinion. The Navitimer fakes are usually pretty easy to spot.

Your first line of defense against fakes is to be an educated buyer. Compare prices, and pictures...if a deal seem too good to be true, it probably is. Your next line is to buy from reputable sellers. Also, follow the code of "buy the seller, not the product." Ask the seller a lot of questions, and only buy if you feel comfortable.

Justin is exactly right.

thanks for your advice. I agree with "buy the seller, not the product", but I saw a sales thread in TRF I don't want to name the seller but he's pretty reputable here. I realize the AP he's selling have a fake buckle.
