DD Dials, Day and Date Wheels

Last week I asked forum members to help me choose between a DD2 and a PP Calatrava. I followed the advice of several members and turned my attention to the 36mm DD, which fits my wrist better than the DD2. My AD is offering a very good price on a new-old-stock 36mm YG DD with silver stick dial. This DD has been in the dealer’s inventory for more than two years and my AD has offered to send it to RSC-NY for a dial change prior to my purchase at no extra cost, unless of course I choose a premium dial. I’m tempted to take the deal and have the silver stick dial swapped for a white roman dial or a silver diamond dial. Of course I’m open to DD dial suggestions from forum members.

I haven’t seen this particular DD yet but my AD is having the watch brought in from another store for my inspection. If I were to choose a white roman dial, I would insist that the watch hands and the day and date wheels be appropriate for the white roman dial. Can anyone tell me if the day and date wheels on a DD with a silver dial differ in color from those on a DD with a white dial?

Yes, on modern DD's.

But you will sometimes see older 18038's with silver dial and champagne day/date wheels, too.

A sampler - you'll see different day/date wheels on both types of dial but some are older than others...
