I just read the posts with a tear in my eye. I can't express into words what your posts mean to me.After serving 3 yearson the Bunker Hill my dad came home and started his tool and die shop.He worked his but off for us. He did this for us,the family. Sent 3 sons to collage paid by my dad. So for him to buy a rolex was a big big deal. He was born in 1922 and as kid lived through the great depression. He was a saver not a spender because of it. In 6th grade his parents took him out of school and put him in Henry Ford Trade school that Henry Ford started for kids to learn a trade. They got 10 cent a day for attending that's why my grand parents did it for. They needed the money. My dad said he never had childhood ,but never complained. The greatest generation no question . So Thank you so, so much. George

George
Prayers sent to you and your family. I lost my hero last October, a war hero. Miss him everyday, he was a great father and grandfather. Remember the good times, that's what I do and gets me through some tough days once in a while.
I hope that am half of a father to my daughter that he was to myself and my brothers
Continue your life with him in spirt, I'm sure he would want this.

New to forum first post. Sorry for your loss. Is this what makes these watches so special. Yours is more than just a time keeping piece. It's part of your history and father.

Sorry my friend, I try to remind myself every day to live life to the fullest and to remember these things we will all have to go through someday, sometimes the concept in of itself almost seems to profound to comprehend.

Your Dad was a brave man. He served his country, realized his dream of Rolex ownership and probably a lot more than you have shared. Now you have his watch. May it always be on your wrist and the memories bring smiles to your face.
Sorry that he passed.

Thanks again everyone. We had his memorial service on the 8th. Room was full of family and friends. They blew taps a did the folding of the U.S flag and gave it to my 89 yoa mother. There were a lot of tears including mine. I got the nerve to speak about my dad my other brothers wanted to but they knew they wouldn't get thought it. I spoke but at times I broke down. No regrets. I had the DD he gave me with a dark navy Brooks Brothers suit. I swear the DD glowed more than ever. Sorry to bring this back up but I thought it was important to love your love ones and remember the lost ones George
