Opinions on the Cal. 2385

I am seriously considering purchasing a RO chrono with the Cal. 2385 movement. I realize this is an F. Piguet Cal. 1185 base movement tweaked by AP and that this movement is also used in other watches, like the VC Overseas chrono.

Any thoughts or opinions on the 2385? Reliability, accuracy, etc. Does it matter that this is not an AP movement inside a storied AP model?

I appreciate your comments.

Thanks.

Cheers,

-Marc

AP2385 is a very reliable movement with fully integrated chronograph and date function. I love my ROC mainly for aesthetic and functionality, hence the robustness of the movement is an added advantage to me. ROC is a wonderful watch. My 39mm says hi!

my new 26320 ROC is +1 second per day. More accurate than the Rolys.

The poor FP1185 gets a lot of bashing since people wish the movement was in-house, but how many fully integrated chrono movements in the same price and size category are BETTER that the FP1185? I'm sure folks will think PPs is better. I'm sure there are others that are solid too, but my point is that for AP and VC to put the FP1185 in their chronos, one would think process of elimination would leave it as one of the very top movements of its type.

It's actually the thinnest chrono movement in the world, and so far I have only heard great things about it. If you take a look at the movement inside let's say a royal oak offshore its the traditional 3120 movement and the chrono is piggy back/ feeds of the 3120. It's delicate IMHO. The chrono is a tank in my book.
Great buy and take into account that they are being discontinued, so get it while you can.

My two cents
