BASEL 2013 & Rolex FS forum
Just asking if anyone knows from previous years experience....will the Rolex For Sale forum light up with tons of new watches once Basel 2013 announcments come out? I would think people want the latest/greatest and maybe sell off some watches to get their funds ready. Thoughts? Cause I keep checking the threads for a Polar 16570 w/o any luck.. Thanks

I think you won't see any new models in the stores until late November 2013.

so, i guess everything has been disappointing since the 50s? or, stretching it out to the 1655, maybe since the 70s? |

When the sub-c was shown at Basle 2010 I didn't get mine till the August.
And it was one of the first in the UK. Well, according to Mappin & Webb anyway! I was 2nd on their waiting list, first guy didn't have the cash. |

Rolex needs to step outside the box. What worked in the PAST may not work moving forward. Omegas embarassing them right now.

I wish they would shock us all with a completely new model, preferably sports model
On the other hand, it still seems to be going good with the current models and they are all very recognizable when you see one on the street

He's asking not when new models will be avail but if people will sell old ones so he can get a deal
The answer is yes Maybe not a massive flux or deals but a notable rise Happens whenever a new product is released or upgraded |

When the 216570 came out there was an increase of Exp II's on the market but it's pretty stable now.. There has never been a lot of White Exp II's.. Owners tend to keep them.. Jocke and I are keeping ours..

Many Rolex owners like the models they purchased. You could put a Want to buy notice up and see if you get any bites...or you could contact a trusted seller and ask him to source one for you. Much more efficient. |

yeah it seems everyone is ridding themselves of the Black Dials. Who knows, I keep my fingers crossed for a new white dial 39-40mm explorer ii with the 216570 orange hand....and maybe a moving bezel, or at least replaceable so I can pepsi it occasionally.

Omega is doing a fantastic job, but they need to dare I say it, make smaller and thinner watches and stop changing them every five years and get an automatic helium escape valve for goodness sakes. Each could use a tiny smidgen of each others box, Omega... probably a smudge. |

I predict a new SS daytona upgrade possible ceramic bezel but add 1k or more to the price and a super long waiting list so don't sale your SS Daytonas just yet. I just bought one.

Even flippers don't really change behavior right after Basel show except to read Jocke's report!

Everyone complains about the new models at first.... Then everyone loves the new models. Happens every year...
OF course the ones complaining are usually the ones who just bought the "classic" version.... haha |

beshannon, yah i purchased one off this forum from DAVIDSW. I check the Sale forum all the time, maybe in the future this forum will let us put in alerts incase a thread pops up I missed..Something that will send ya an email matching your keywords.
Karlsbad, I'm with ya on that one. I'm a dreamer, someone did get their hand painted orange on a Exp II Polar and it looks amazing.

GMT Master II Black & Blue....whoa
Now I just have to grow the size of my wrists because that will be way too big for me, the one problem I always have.

OP and his original question: I don't see much of a relationship. I do think once the Basel models hit our boards later in the year, they do command a premium for a while, until the frenzy and hype surrounding them die down...
