Buying used watch question
I am still on the hunt for an Anniversary green Sub. I missed a couple in the for sale section as they seam to go quick when priced right.
I am not a used watch person. They seam to be priced between $7900-$5800. The odd thing is some of the mid priced ones are listed as new in the box and the higher priced are more used sort of speak. MY question is am I better off buying a mechanically perfect lower priced watch in good shape and then sending it off to service VS. Getting the cosmetically perfect watch that due to it's age will have sort of an unknown in regards to service?? My logic is $5500 plus $1500 in service nets me a cosmetically and mechanically fresh watch vs $6600 for a nice used watch. Is there something that would effect value if they restore the finish during the service? Thoughts? I appreciate the help. |

It seems to me that there is a price difference between different versions.
There was a thread about it a while ago and a big debate. Fonts, serial#'s, engraved rehaut.... So make sure you are comparing apples to apples. I would take the cosmetic condition into consideration since that is what adds up at service time.
