Rolex FAQ and Facts serial number
Aloha members,
Just checking threads and learning various facts and FAQ about rolex and read the sticky about about serial numbers under Rolex FAQ and Facts. There was a list of the countries the watches the serial number is stamped for and noticed the following : Watches for Hawaii are preceded with 871 and Alaska with 872. Just wondering since technically Hawaii and Alaska are part of the fifty states, why did they have special serial numbers/watches made for that destination? Also the FAQ and facts said for country origin. Again Hawaii and Alaska are not countries but rather states that are part of the USA. Am I missing something. I appreciate the help in understanding why these two states have stand along serial numbers. Thanks members. Tom |

I think that you are misunderstanding "country codes"
A serial number is not stamped for a particular country code and the two are not connected at all. Watches are sent to various markets and the paperwork is simply stamped (coded) for where the closest Distribution Center is located.. They are called country codes by WIS, not by Rolex, (I think that Rolex calls them "Client Numbers") and there may be several sub-codes within any country umbrella code.. They could more correctly be called "Area Distribution/Market Codes"
