Pvd dlc
Hello,
I am new to this forum. I have done a search, but to no avail. I have what may be a simple question. Are there any "official rolex" pvd/dlc watches? I have seen a deepsea piccard version. But, there are many others for sale and I wonder whether it is all aftermarket. Finally, how is that seen in the rolex collector community? Thanks in advance, Mario |

It is seen as an alteration to an original product. I can paint my car bright pink but that wont make it "collectible".

Welcome! Most collectors would never alter their Rolex in such a way, but there are also plenty of people who love DLC/PVD Rolexes. Whatever floats your boat! Here's a good thread on it:

Of course you can do whatever you want to your watch once you own it but Rolex does not produce a factory model with those processes...they are all after market. As for whether it is liked most people here are purest and will tell you no!!!
Take it easy.....Leo

Welcome to the forum.
No, it was custom. Any black pvd/dlc Rolex you will ever see is custom. None are from Rolex and Rolex will not service them and the warranty is void if applicable, you have to go to a local watch maker for service. Some people don't like them, I do, but only on a few models. The collector community doesn't care much for these. Here's a good thread. https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=252836 |

No, I didn't ask the question. I just thought they looked interesting and I also saw that one of these sold for almost $40k at auction (the limited version 1/86) so I was curious if it was an official model.
Just btw, while I don't consider myself a collector, I have a black face daytona from the mid 2000's an explorer II from early 90's and a blue/stainless gold sub from the late 2000's. I love them! But I am looking at getting a deepsea or maybe a hulk sub. (learning the terms!) Mario |
