What strap is this? That is perfect, exactly what I'm looking for. That one, and a gold rolex buckle and those endlinks would be the combo I eventually want. For now I just want to get it on the strap though. The buckle is what I'm most nervous about getting, I'm still not confident that I know what's authentic and what's not, even though I've been looking at them for a while.

Hi and yes ABP is a bespoke strap manufacturer in Paris. Just google ABP Paris and enjoy .....there's a whole section of photos of straps they have made.....everything from elephant to toad and pretty much every species in between ....I'm on the verge of ordering a polished stingray for my JLC :-)

Ken, this is beautiful. may i ask why did the dial get such a gorgeous patina while the markers remained white. I am guessing that this is your safe queen as it is in a great condition.

Thanks and no safe queens--all get worn! The markers are tritium and the dial turned cream due to paint defect. I love defects on Rolex dials of course!

Yes, it is padded!

I really wanted a band with white stitches but all black ones are pretty easy to find as well, you should be able to get exactly what you are looking for with a quick search on Ebay or in any jewelry store.

You guys sporting the Etur End Links - they're a "must have" if you decide to go with any strap, or alternatively use a curved end leather like in Glenn-BE's bottom pic.

INHO, all dive watches just look wrong on leather. Leather and water, and especially sea water, do not mix.

Also as a Rolex is a luxury brand I see the need for some profile on the strap. Deep padding is nice. Real Alligator or Crocodile add the luxury complimentary feel.

Having made these overly opinionated statements, do what you like and why would youncare what I think? Just some "feedback" in case you are seeking it. Always do what makes it good for you.

Here is a good shot of the custom bund Attila made for me. I sent him this photo and again he made it from a vintage horse saddle he found. It is such a cool look and soooo comfortable I can't put it back on the bracelet! Cheers,

I have done several searches and have an idea what brand I would like. The limiting factor for me has been my desire to eventually get a Rolex buckle on it. So, I'll need a band that tapers to 16mm. That, and I've bought cheap leather bands before and have found that you pretty much get what you pay for, lol. I'd like this to be a decent set up since I think the watch deserves that.

Great looking watches guys! I appreciate all the pics!

Both of these are what you would called padded straps and both have curved end attachments so there is less of a gap where it connects to the lugs.

16800 on alligator

1680 on ostrich

Beautifully done. These straps really work well on your wathes. I would definitely wear those like that too. AM.

Thanks Annemarie

My next is going to be stingray .... Just deciding on the colour of the lining and finish of the strap. I'm thinking polished stingray and a purple lining..... But just too many choices....

My new leather strap finally arrived today. I went with a Gunny. I'm going to wait until I pick up some new spring bars before I put it on my GMT. The last time I changed out a bracelet on one of my other watches I launched a spring bar across the room by accident. I don't want to do that again since these are my only 20mm spring bars

Anyway, here's a pic of the new strap. Pics on the watch to follow.....

I would love to use a brown vintage lizard leather I have on my DD, but I just don't like the look of the case at the end of the lugs. Hopefully one day I can get the end pieces made.

I hear that. I can live with it for now. But I would really like to get 2 tone end links from Etur, but he's difficult to contact.

Looks good. Mine tapers to 16mm as well. I'm hoping to get a YG buckle for it eventually.
