DRSD 1665 Bracelet/End Piece Question
OK, now that I got my grail _ DRSD _ I'm obsessing over the tiniest details. So, anyone know whether the 585 end pieces are supposed to be lower than the lugs like this? (These end pieces are super tight/correct with no rattle.) It looks OK, but I prefer it when the end pieces line up perfectly with the lugs, for that smooth, seamless line. (It's like than on my 1680 with 580 end pieces). However, this 1665 case is pretty darn thick/high, so I'd imagine that correctly fitted end pieces cannot line up perfectly with the tops of the lugs. See my 1680 for comparison.

a 585 endlink ...
in mint or good conditions is not certainly " lower than the lugs " .. so maybe you need to bring them to a watchmaker to fix ( they are probably only flattened ).

Thanks. I wanted to make sure before I started trying to adjust these end pieces. (You see so many variations in photos of DRSDs online. You never know what is a correctly adjusted end piece, and what is worn, loose, bent, tight, etc ...) Anyway, I was able to make a minor adjustment myself, and it worked like a charm.

Thanks! Thinking about this again, how is it that the same end pieces (580) are expected to fit the regular Submariner and the Sea-Dweller the same, while maintaining that line where the curve of the end pieces lines up nicely with the curve of the inside of the lugs? The case thickness of the two models is very different, and therefore the end pieces shouldn't fit the same way. I realize that the earlier Sea-Dwellers are supposed to have the 585 end pieces, but there are lists out there that also show 580 end pieces are correct for the Sea-Dweller AND the regular Sub.
Does the RSC or a watchmaker just need to spread the 580 end pieces differently to achieve that perfect fit between the end pieces and lugs on the two different models? And slightly on/off topic, I'm not sure that the end pieces on all Rolex models are designed to be perfectly aligned with the curve of the lugs. Here is my now-departed 1655 with new, RSC-installed end pieces. As you can see, the end pieces don't line up perfectly. They're close and it still looks good, of course, but it's not perfect. |

no no ...
the pristine end for 1680/5512/5513 with 93150 strap is the 580 , and for 1665 with the same strap
the correct and pristine end is only the 585 ! |
