With all due respect to OP, I agree with this wholeheartedly. It would never even occur to me to ask a bunch of total strangers "Which watch should I buy?"....and yet we see a few dozen of these threads on any give week, not sure why that is, I personally say spend a bit of time researching the two you're interested, take your time and try both on several times if you're not certain, and then buy the one you think looks the best.

Both brands are very popular, at one time they were ordered with Omega at #2 and Breitling at #3 (in COSC certifications, a good barometer of total sales), so you're not going to lose either way. The Breitlings tend to be a bit more on the flashy side but are great watches (the new movement is fantastic), but the PO is one of the best looking divers out there imo.

I was faced with this choice a few months ago and I preferred the B01, its a striking watch and the dial detail is wonderful esp on the black Roman dial and the pilot bracelet is as good a bracelet as you will find. It also looks great on a black croco and really de-blings the watch when you want to. Next to it the 8500 seemed rather pedestrian and simple and the 9300 chrono was just too thick. Whichever you buy make sure you get at least 25% off.

I have a Breitling Aerospace and Omega Great White and SM300. The Aerospace is the first model from them that I have bonded with. Like the Colt too, but have only seen photos. I'm not a fan of busy dials, so the BO1 would not be a choice for me. The PO is a solid watch with nice styling and seems to be selling well, so possibly a bigger resell market if you decide to flip it later.

My personal opinion, take it for what it's worth, is that Brietling over the past few years have become a little flashy, and their bezels especially will come to look dated, where the Planet Ocean should prove a classic.

I never have fully warmed to the "Jetsons font" on the bezel of the newer models, thought it looked a bit too computerized for a mechanical watch....in person it's not as bad as it looks in photos, though, where everything is 5x larger....

They both wear similar in my opinion. With the PO, you have the option of 42 or 44mm. I highly encourage you try on both.
