Sunglasses - Oliver Peoples
Last summer the sunglasses I purchased was a pair of SALT to add to the collection.....this year its O.P. Farrell 62 but the problem is I cant make up my mind do I want the blue polar or midnight express polar.
Does anybody have a preference over the other color lens? I was going with blue because I don't have any like them but would it be practical for everyday use? Any lens advice would be greatly appreciated. http://www.oliverpeoples.com/online-...arrell-62.html |

Get both. You can never have too many glasses. I've got sunglasses in blue, brown, green, charcoal, and yellow.

I like both colors. Have you tried titanium frames? Once I got my first pair, they are so light, I will not go back.

Big fan of Oliver Peoples eyewear. Totally useless comment, though!

Sunglasses has one of the highest profit-margins of any luxury goods in the world, I just cannot bring myself to spend +$500 on something that cost $2-3 (whatever) to make. But I do agree, that OP has good designs. :-)

I, too am a fan of Oliver Peoples, however the whole Luxxotica brand thing just isn't my style. I'm an extreme disliker of the whole Ray-Ban fad (gimme a break psht).
I will, however, recommend Moscot sunglasses. They have been around for nearly a century, and I think they can prvide exactly the type of sunglasses you are looking for. They are made right here in New York, and have been a staple to many celebrities. I own a pair of the timeless Moscot Lemtosh (see Johnny Depp), and even though they weren't the cheapest pair, I seem to enjoy their fit the most, not to add the loads of compliments I get when I wear them. You should give their collection a nice look see... www.moscot.com |

Highly recommend you taking a look at Moscot.
Made in NYC. High quality. Amazing designs. Staple to many celebrities, including Johnny Depp. They are very nice, discreet, no obscene branding, etc. They fit amazing on the nose and ears, and I get a ton of compliments every time I wear my Lemtoshes. Check 'em out. If you're leaning towards an Oliver Peoples style of sunglasses, I would seriously recommend taking a look at what Moscot NYC has to offer. www.moscot.com |

I have a pair of Thornhill II with java brown lenses, and I recently picked up a pair of "sanford" with blue lenses. The Thornhill II's are polarized, but the Sanford's are not - I did get the blue lenses with the Sanford's as well. I paid a bit under $300 for each pair; shop around and you can find some decent deals.
I like Maui Jim as well, but feel they aren't unique. I had the Cliff House model from MJ, but ended getting rid of them for the Sanford model from OP. |

I wear toughened re-active plastic lenses with a correction for reading.
Great all rounders. They work for me.

I have a pair of the Aero 57 in Chrome Amber Photochromic Glass and love them. I don't think you can go wrong with any of their lens selections. I don't think their polar is that dark.

Ray-Ban were once the best...long ago. I still have my 1960's club masters. If they were good enough for JFK, they are fine for me.

Oliver People's are not better than Ray-Ban, Prada, Oakley etc - they are actually all manufactured by the same company Luxottica. Be an educated consumer.

I've worked in eye care for 27 years and I've had most every brand *cough* under the sun. Total sunglasses whore.
My hands down favorite is Maui Jim. Their Ti sport line is fantastic. |

I am not familar with Oliver Peoples, but they seem pricey. I have been wearing Ray-Bans for years until I picked up a pair of Maui Jim Black Corals in Matte Brown/HCL Bronze yesterday. These things are sweet. Maybe a touch wider in size than I am used to wearing, but doable and not huge by any means.

I have had many brands over the years. Maui Jims are great indeed. I tend to mostly buy REVO. But just this week I picked up a pair that won me over right away. Persol. Polarized. Very comfortable. My Revos will stick around for golf but the Persol are now for every day wear. Tortoise shell with light brown lenses. More $$$ than I like to spend but well made and worth it.

I have both Oliver Peoples (Benedict) and Maui Jim (Coconuts)
Maui Jim frames are very comfortable and flexible but they're polarizing lens get me a bit dizzy. I love the style of my Oliver Peoples. I have the sapphire blue photochromic lens and also purchased the midnight polar lens as well, for more formal situations. |
