I think the ALS will be a better fit for your collection. I like the Daymatic but I prefer the original Lange 1 with the hand wound movt.

Lange
I like the DD2 but it feels a little glitzy to me with the cut bezel. I'm sure it's robust but would imagine that the bezel is going to look a little chewed up after a while.
At this price point you can get yourself a better finished movement from brands like Lange and Patek, and a general level of hand assembly and finishing you won't get with Rolex. Like Ken I much prefer the hand wound L1, and if I didn't already own one I would go for the new Grande Lange 1 in pt. It's an icon and it's nickname "Stealth" sums up why it's a watch you can wear and go unnoticed. And don't let the personal ranting and bigotry of one person put you off a brand: make your own decisions about what's right for you. |

Resale value on those is fine, so long as you don't pay MSRP in a store. Pick one up LNIB from a forum.

I wouldn't buy a watch on the criteria that one is an independent and the other isn't. Hell, if ALS is part of a "circus" then sign me up, I'll be your bearded lady ;-)

I prefer the Lange1 moonphase myself but I would still choose that ALS over the DD-II, it's just a matter of personal tastes though.

For me : this Lange over any Rolex.
Dont get e wrong, i like my sub, but a lange is in a different league. Rolex is a very high standard mass product and Lange isnt. For me Lange is at the same level as ie FP Journe/Patek. I think the loss/gain in a resale for a lange or a Rolex will be the same. |

RG Lange looks the part of an expensive time piece, I really don't like 41mm Rolex nor WG, the 41mm DD looks way too much like a SS DJ...

Btw the two for the brand A.L.S. Two different watch. One is dressy and other is more sportier. Good luck on your decision.

I like ALS but not that one. Simply have no use for a day indication. If I don't know what day it is, it's pasture time. Suggest the Grand Lange as well or the 1815 Up/Down.

wow.. how surprising, a poll in rolexforum but shows Lange over-taking the DD2 as the preferred choice as of this writing. But I still can't make up my damn mind.

Lange for sure. Beautiful, well-made watch - you'd expect nothing less from German engineering.

This one is going down to the wire, could be an O.T thriller. The Rolex was in from the first day then ALS went past it after a couple of days now the Rolex is closing the gap again. I cant hold back my excitement.

I think I will base on my final choice on how this poll turns out.
