For my kid first electric guitar : Fender Stratocaster or Telecaster? Why?

Of course it's a Fender but it's made between 2 siestas.

Mexican Fender's is the most affordable IMHO.

Gonna have to echo the Mexican Strat recommendation! I'm a bass player but my Mexi Strat works just fine when I feel like playing 6 strings. 93% of the quality of an American Strat IMHO.

It's a regular Fender made in Mexico. My advise is to look at the signature models, there you have guitars with
the big guys mods.

Just look at the Ritchie Blackmore model, I love it.

In the process of purchasing a guitar myself. And from all I've read (and I have been extremely obsessive about it) and all the input I have received, I believe the best advice is to have your son go to the store and FEEL what feels right to him.

The Strat is well over 7 pounds, usually--all are individual, of course. I like the guitars in the 6 pound range. The Gibson SG is a fairly light model. The last one I checked came in a 6 pounds and three ounces. They just feel better to me.

Others prefer more beef. Let your son go, enjoy the process with him, and get the one that feels best in his hands.

I originally had a Gibson Les Paul Standard. Beautiful, sounded great, but when taking lessons I usually ended up laying my instructors Japanese Strat. It fit my hands better, and was lighter.

I sold the Les Paul and now have a Mexican made Strat with humbuckers. The Les Paul had a Pearly Gates in the bridge and a Jeff Beck in the neck. I can't say they sounded any better to me than the stock ones.

How were you able to fit a Jeff Beck single coil pickup on your Les Paul? Do you have a pic of your les Paul by any chance? I have a standard lp as well but they have the burstbuckers and I don't plan to mod it in any way.

The Stratocaster is one of the most versatile guitars ever made! One word of advice...don't buy him the cheapest one just because he's a beginner. The better models play & feel better.

Seymour Duncan, which is the brand I bought, makes the Jeck Beck and the Pearly Gates in humbuckers.

I don't know if I have any pics of it. It was a Honeyburst. I had it back in the 90's. Been through several computers since then.
