41mp camera phone

Nokia sent me a Lumia 1020 earlier today and I must admit, this thing takes killer shots!

Those are all straight out of the phone, zero editing.

IF only they had more apps available for the Windows platform...

A couple of low light examples, with no flash.

I am going to attempt some proper photos over the weekend and see what I can achieve with a bit of Lightroom and Photoshop tweaking.

Those are some stunning shots, but 41MP or not, I'm not likely to ever be coaxed over to a Windows phone platform.

Those are some great shots Tell me, how fast is the lens? I hear that the iphone is coming out with an f/1.8 lens; Blackberry has a f/2.2; and my old HTC has an f/2.8, which is not too bad. Question 2: How much control do you have over the settings? HTC is great in that respect: many setting and control over light, ISO, flash, etc--pretty much everything. The iphone 5, while it takes some great pictures, is mostly all automatic, which for me is a deal killer. I'd like to research more about this phone. Again, nice shots

The 41mp camera will bring a new appreciation for bandwidth and data plan usage if users choose to share pics at full resolution.

Dayyaam! Those are sick pictures. I could almost feel the frosty condensation on that mug.
This thing is 41 mega pixels, that''s a lot of pixels.

To be honest, Windows Phone 8 is surprisingly good. The OS itself is very stable and very well thought out, better than Android in many ways and in some even better than iOS.

My issue with it is that it lacks some of the apps I use on daily bases: AMEX, Snapseed, Instagram, Flipboard are the main ones that come to mind.

It has a six element, optically stabilized Carl Zeiss lens. If I remember correctly, it is f2.0. I THINK... but I might be wrong, that it also has a mechanical shutter.

It has FULL control over the settings: ISO, Exposure time, WB, Exposure compensation, etc. Everything that my SLR has control over, so does this.

It also has a Xenon flash instead of an LED one.

This is not my photo, but here is a link to a full 41mp image.

You can't. The phone automatically takes it down to a max of 5mp for sharing.

The only way to export the full res file, which can be up to 20 some megs, is to a computer.

All other transfers are automatically taken down to 5.

Wow!!! That is awesome!! Lets hope this technology is adopted by an Android phone maker soon!!!

My Droid X (yes first generation) is almost 4 years old. I've been holding out on updating it and I might hold out a bit longer. I can't live without my apps so I'm not going to a Windows phone, but this camera would certainly make me think about it!

I am tempted to post the 41mp version. Perhaps you can then tell me all that is wrong with me and save me a trip to the physician!

People routinely tell me what's what's wrong with me and I don't even need to ask.

With any camera its 30% camera and 70% photographer and cell phones can be very good. But a 41 Mega Pixel is not really needed to take good pictures. Below taken with a very old Sony K800I 3.2 megapixels camera cell phone on macro mode please excuse the spider she was browsing the Rolex brochure at the time.

Wow that takes some impressive pictures! Great looking phone over all too. I love the WP8 operating system, too bad about major lack of apps though. I played with the Nokia 920 a lot and loved it.

The 1020 weights a lot less than the 920 and that's a good thing. The 920 was a brick.

It's also matte instead of glossy so no longer a fingerprint magnet.

Nice shots!

Very impressive, the lens, not the number of pixels.

Nokia should switch over to Android.
