Odd change in P.9000

I have owned my 359 since August of 2010 and bought it new. When I set the hour, there was always a click every hour position the hand was adjusted.

This morning when I was adjusting, it suddenly stopped clicking and became very smooth. The watch appears to be operating normally and certainly better for adjustments. It's easier to press the crown in now (it was finicky before).

My question is, was it "broken" before or is it "broken" now? Should the hand click like it did for the past 3yrs or be completely smooth when adjusted?

Nobody with a P.9000 can say if their's clicks when they set the hour hand? I know there are a lot of people who have watches with this movement here...

Yes, the hour hand should click. My 312 did it from brand new.

Thanks for the replies.

As an update, I have another symptom that seems to be a clear indicator of malfunction.

If I am adjusting the minute hand, the hour hand doesn't advance reliably and seems to just stay at the current hour if I turn the minute hand past the top of the hour. The hour hand may advance after a few complete rotations of the minutes, but this is clearly unintended behavior.

What is the best way to get this serviced? Take it in person to a Panerai boutique like NYC?

I can't believe this watch broke in less than three years (and it's a safe queen).

If possible, I'd take it back to where I bought it to see what they say.

It should click. There may have been something broken/bent/slipped. Nothing serious it seems, but it looks like its bothering you - so send it in.

Nothing serious? Hehehe. Advancing the movement in Position 3 doesn't always move the hour hand now. I would say that's serious. ;-)

I might call them but they're probably going to want to monkey with it and I simply don't want that. We'll see...

I doubt it. None of the ADs have been certified to work on in-house movements to my knowledge.

Shreve won't even open the case. I was told that if they did it would void the warranty.
