I hear ya on the Lightspeeds & "before carbon fiber tech", the OCLV frame flex & creek of my Fisher Pro Caliber LTD back in the day was a constant reminder, under torque, that I should have gone with a Lightspeed.

Thanks a lot for the kind words folks!

Going back a few years ago (before carbon fibre technology got really advanced) the greatest bicycle frames (Litespeed) made in the U.S.A. were made from Titanium. The flagship model called the 'Vortex' used 6Al4V as the highest quality material. It was so strong that they could not extrude the tubes and they were flat sheet that had to be rolled and welded along the seam.

Anyway I digress
Hmm, that's interesting. I have no idea what kind of titanium "blend" is used in the Pelagos, but I'd imagine that Tudor, being made in the Rolex facilities and designed under the same roof, would use some of the best stuff around for the purpose. I mean, Rolex is known for over-engineering, so it wouldn't surprise me at all.

Anyone know more about what titanium blend Tudor is using?

Are Tudor watches actually made in the same factories as Rolex as there seems to be a bit of confusion on this matter? Would also like to know more on the 'blend' too.

September I believe but still no word on when Tudor will officially become available in the UK sadly

From what I've gathered Tudor is made in the same factory by the same machines that make all the parts in Rolex watches. Case, dial, hands, everything except the movement, which is made by ETA, but I guess they do modify it some in the Rolex facilities and assemble it. If this is wrong please correct me, but this is what I've read so many places that I think it's right.

And yeah, still curious about the titanium blend as well, so if anyone have some information about this they could share, that would be sweet!

What about the clasp?! From what I understand the clasp is the best part of that watch!!!

That's what I've always believed to be the case too, yet you look around & their are people who think otherwise, but for the record I think they ARE made in the same facilities. As for the movement any ideas on just how much if at all it is modified/decorated?

Oh & great pics of the watch btw

Ah, this confirms that Tudor is made by Rolex. Benjamin Clymer of Hodinkee says @ 0:50 in this review of the Pelagos: "the case, the bracelet, everything about it is made by Rolex, so you get the same quality control that you'd see on any Rolex."

And here's the full written review on Hodinkee. Very good reading, highly recommended! Hodinkee is awesome.

In regards to the movement, I found this post on WUS after a quick search that explains how Tudor has modified the movement. I'm sure more in-depth information can be found with some more googling.

Oh, and thanks a lot!

Saw that article on Hoodinkee & it seems to confirm that it is made by Rolex in house, as for that WUS thread very informative & interesting

Yes made all in-house by Rolex

My AD told me that Tudor is made to the same standards as Rolex in the Rolex factory, but with ETA movement. Rolex Australia will service and repair the watch in Melbourne when and should it be needed. He told me the QC was as tough as for Rolex as well.

Cheers

Pete

Great photos and a true modern 'tool-watch'. My only wish is that they made it in blue, and returned to the previous style of machining on the edge of the bezel, and the crown (as per Rolex); not keen on the fine-milled detailing there. I could look past that if they released a blue one, though!
