New Stainless Daytona in Dealer Window!
Just got back from Santa Barbara, CA and came across a Rolex dealer on State Street (Churchill Jewelers) and was surprised to see a new stainless Daytona with black dial in the window display. Spoke to the manager, Cristina, and she said they got it in the other day and made some calls for people on the list but there weren't any immediate takers so she put it in the window. She was very nice and gave me a new 2012-2013 Rolex catalog (165 pages).
I own the same watch, although I had to wait a while for my dealer to get one in. Someone looking for a new one from an authorized dealer may luck out on this. Guess it is all a matter of timing... |

They've had one with a white dial at my local AD for about a month now.

Daytonas are not as sought after as before, may AD offered a discount to me on either a white or black dial, my choice. A few years back when I was visiting the Baron & Leeds in Maui the manager took one out from the safe and said this is your lucky day and I can even have it at full list price and waiting list and all that BS. What a difference a few years make.

The Daytona is a victim of its own success.
Rolex greed has made the buyer think twice before you drop 12k on what was worth 6k and some change just six years ago. Remember Also Rolex has moved to the bigger dial sizes, like the new explorer1,2, the deep sea dweller, and the wider lugs like classics like GMT and submariner not to mention the YM2. Did you think for a minute why Rolex didn't go up on the prices this year to this minute, GREED is not good for business. I hate to tell you this, despite I'm a diehard fan of the brand, when you want to sell 1 million watches a year that Are machine made, you need to be a bit more conservative with how fast you go up on the pricing. My 2 cents |

I see Daytonas at my AD now....nothing you have to wait for....those days of "take a number" are gone.

AD have called me twice in two weeks ,,, do I want a white dial Daytona, I have the white and black dials, and I am on the list for the new gmt bk/bl.
I think as I am on the list for the gmt ,, they think I may want to spend my money on a Daytona ,, instead even the grey market prices are coming down. |

That's a nice shop in Santa Barbara. If I was in the market, I'd jump at it...any excuse for a drive up the coast to that lovely town!
However, I'm saving for that new Omega '57... Hope a TRF member is able to snag that Daytona...then at least we can see the pictures. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD |

Not tried J&C as my AD are really good, bought a few Rolex watches from them,
latest was my GMT Master II black/blue few weeks back, even gave me a little bit of discount. I'm hoping they get back to me this week with some good news about a SS Daytona. Will keep you posted :-) |

I wish Rolex made the Daytona in 42mm also. That's a better size-for me at least.
