1961 Manual Wind Oysterdate - thoughts?
I saw this watch while I was out watch-shopping today. It's a manual wind, which I don't think I could get used to, and priced at $3400. What do you guys think?

Seems like a 6694. Price wise it seems a bit steep. Here is a search I did at Chrono24:
http://www.chrono24.com/en/search/in...&suchen=Search They start at about 9K. It also seems to be some damage to the dial and the date seems to be off-centered in the date window. I can't comment on how rare the dial is. If its rare it fetches a higher price of course. If original documentation, box etc.is included it also affect the price. I doubt that its just serviced since the date is not aligned... Looks expensive to me...just my 2 cents |

Way too overpriced, in my opinion. The bracelet should be brushed.

I agree. The manual wind versions of this watch sell online between 800 - 1200.
And it might need a service. Plenty of better options here on the forum. |

Looks like a "nervous" or lazy attempt at restoration: burnish the case with a rag-wheel on a bench-grinder with a ton of jeweler's rouge, then polish the crystal so hard it shifts. I think the dial could have been ultrasonically cleaned without damage, but it doesn't look like this was attempted. Many, many better examples available under $2K.

Way over polished, stains on dial and over priced! For that price you should get a near perfect original that shows little wear compared to that watch.
