Why you can't always tell a book by it's cover...

I had a watch for sale recently...

I also had a number of people email me that were clearly trying to "Scam" me out of my watch...

I was about to pull the watch off the market as I was tired of fielding emails from idiots when I received yet another email...

To make a long story short I thought this guy was a jerk and I have no doubt that by my responses to him (I was getting fed up) he thought I was a jerk as well...

He asked if he could call me, so I reluctantly gave him my number...

He called and we ended up talking for over an hour...What a nice guy!!!

We hit it off famously and he bought the watch...

All in all it turned out to be a very pleasant experience and reminded me yet again what I love about this hobby...

Usually a phone call seals most deals. I prefer them personally. Scammers rarely give out their number.

Good story. I prefer f2f deals. Two of my three watches were f2f deals. It's great to shake hands and walk away with your purchase. I'm kinda old fashion too.

I don't sell anything without a phone conversation with the buyer. It is much more personal.

It's very hard to measure tone in an email, conversation is much more accurate.

I've bought both of my rolexes f2f, same with my tag heuer. I feel much more comfortable being able to inspect the watch, talk to the owner about how/when they acquired it. And I got pretty good deals on both of them. But before I sent Somone thousands of dollars, reguardless of how trusted I'd still like to talk to them
