Finally managed to get some shrike pics
At last I managed to get some pictures of the great grey shrike that's been eluding me for weeks. Hopefully I'll be able to get even more before it finally flies off for the breeding season.

Excellent shots... Shrikes are probably my favourite species, just a shame that there are so few around in the U.K. (a handful of Red-backed still breed but it's very hush hush). A photo of a Shrike ripping apart another bird always surprises non-birders, who are largely unaware that anything other than a raptor will hunt other birds.
Talking of Raptors, spotted a Goshawk yesterday, from the unlikely enviroment of a Little Chef on the A1 in Bedfordshire. cheers Andy Last edited by Hawkwind; 12 January 2006 at 01:19 AM.. |

Great pic as always, Adrian!!
One question though: How come your birds are always perced on barbed wire while mine are sprawled on beaches?

I went to the same spot this morning and managed to get some great shots. This is not the best but just a sample.
