I am looking at Deep Sea Dwellers and I have a what I hope isn't a stupid question.

I know that the "V-" serial number watches have ceramic inserts in the bezel. Isn't that true for the other series as well?

Or what serial number series have that insert?

The reason I ask, is that this watch is going to get wet a lot. I have almost 2000 hours of bottom time logged with my Seiko Pro Diver. That watch is getting too expensive to repair, and parts are getting difficult to find.

The Rolex will get the same treatment and now that I am retired, it will probably see all of the oceans. It will get care, good treatment, but much of it's view of the sky will be through water.

I just want to make sure I get that ceramic bezel.

All Deep Seas have ceramic bezels, before this, the SD 4000 and it's predecessors had aluminum.

Any Deep Sea Dwellers or Submariners model number that starts with 11 is ceramic.

The dssd is THE ultimate diving watch. It should handle all the seas quite well for you

If you are concerned about the cost to repair - the ceramic bezel is several times more expensive to replace than the older Seadweller's aluminum one.

V serial numbers have nothing to do with it - the Sea Dweller as well as the Deepsea Sea-Dweller can have V serials..

As mentioned, all Deepsea Sea-Dwellers, model 116660 have ceramic bezel inserts.

The Deep Sea SD will be able to handle any dive and as many dives as you can make.

Make sure you don't confuse the two. Sea-Dweller (now discontinued) with the bigger Deep Sea Sea-Dweller.

Good luck, it's a heck of a watch if you have the wrist for it.

Get a ceramic SubC 116610. More than adequate for diving and anything else you throw at it. It's cheaper, easy to live with, and costs less to service.

If I bought another watch it would be sea dweller. Just a perfect watch in every way.
