Need some advice Rolex Day-Date ref.1803

Hello, I am planning on purchasing one of these used, as they do not make them anymore

However I am not familiar with which year would be best to buy, and how much I should be paying for a very good condition one? Are these watches reliable for daily wear considering they are so old?

I am leaning towards a black dial or white dial with leather strap, are these combos avail? and if so from what year to what year?

My other question is besides the gold dial, what other colour dials does it come in?

Thanks! And if anyone has suggestions as to where to get one of these, that would be great

That's a lot of questions.

You'll be better served to do this research yourself. There are many, many threads here about the 1803. Start looking at old sales threads and general 1803 content to get a better idea of the dial choices etc. This way you will be able to make a more educated choice instead of us spoon-feeding it to you. This will make your purchase easier when you know exactly what you want

Basically yes to all your questions, if serviced they are reliable, black and white comes on every model from 1803 to now, as for other colours many and textures have been made over the years far to many to list.

1803 will not have quick set day and date wr to only 50 meters not for swimming. Yes DD can be worn every day they are tough. You can get any leather strap you like just get the right size. I would get 18xxx models some wil have single or double quick set and will be wr to 100m ok for the water.
