I live down there so the abundance of high end watches is no big deal. As for the posters who want to take shots at the Latin/Cuban community you are so wrong. Most I have had the pleasure to know are hard working good folks and very family oriented. Miami is also a huge destination for international travel especially from south America from where a lot of money flows. I have never had a problem at any mayors in all of south Florida. Most of the salespeople at bal harbor are snotty tools. Aventura by the way is like the number two highest volume mall in the united states. And yes.... The women are often stunning.

@karmtp obviously there are a lot of people who have a Rolex. My point was, being a well travelled man, there are an above average number of Rolex's, in my experience, in Miami.

Even some of the honeys are rockin them. The one next to me at the pool party had a Gold Daytona. Looked good!

Went to the Panerai AD in Bal Harbour too, watches in the states are dearer than the UK. For example the PAM321 in UK is Ł6400. In US it's $9800 plus 7% tax = $10,486 converted to pounds at today's rate of 1.56 equates to Ł6721. They weren't willing to do any deal or offer free straps or anything.

IWC in Bal Harbour were willing to discount by the 7% tax and also were cheaper than the UK
You can get new Panerai watches Miami from reliable sellers with a 15% discount. Regarding the comment in general it is true that there are many luxury watches on the wrist but there are many poor and the unemployment is in Florida the largest of USA I think. This is what happens in the world, so shares rise more Louis Vuitton than Walmart. So I read an article in the Wall Street Journal.

The ones I seen, doubt very much they were fakes as the people wearing them looked quite well to do. If they were fakes must've been some damn good copies.

Last day in Miami today, back to London tmrw so better take in the sites around the pool ;)

If you think you are seeing many Rolex in Miami (and I am sure you are as I did when I traveled there..) try taking in a PGA event - I swear that 80% of the mature gallery are wearing Rolex. It was something to see.

Another thing about Miami is the abundance of water activities; boating, skiing, the beach, and it seems everyone has a pool.

As we all know, Rolex is known for water resistance so you are covered no matter what comes up...

I think your initial premise is slightly flawed.

When I say slightly, I mean complete nonsense.

Circa 750,000 watches PA for Rolex total, over 50% DJs. Sub production a good 50,000-60,000 PA or fewer.

Sub production similiar to Patek production. Both mass market of a sort.
