Tips on buying first watch (submariner)
Hi guys
This will be my very first watch and I am looking at the submariner as my first choice since it's a classic design Just a few questions: - What year/series should i be really looking at ? I am interested in the V series but they seem a bit pricier compared to P and K series - Apart from buying from reputable sellers on forums, is there any other way of telling its authenticity ? If there's anything else, please let me know what should i look out for |

authenticity is not always an easy thing to address through photos.
I would suggest as you said buying from a trusted seller. Ask them all of the questions you want. They will not risk their reputations and lie about anything. If you are concerned with authenticity then go with a trusted name and you will not have to worry about it. Also you will always pay a premium on later model 16610 such as M V G and random serials. IF I were you stick around the Z serials and you should be able to get a good one for around 5400. Some great sellers are DavidSW justrolexes bodybump mosco jizeal to name a few |

I'd suggest picking a reference you like and research all the variations, movement, dials, etc. this way you can make a more informed purchase. The search function here is the gateway.
There is no question on the Sub that hasn't been answered here ten times over. You will find a wealth of knowledge

Best advice I received is to buy the seller not the watch. If you do that you are sure to get a quality piece. While the newer SubC watches are great, you might want to look at a D or F serial 16610. All the modern features such as Luminova, SELs, etc. These dates from around 2003-2005 and based on ones that have sold on the board, you can pick them up for a very responsible price. I would also make sure the watch has been properly serviced as directed by Rolex. Trusted sellers are the way to go. With all the high quality counterfeits out there today I would be very leery buying from an unknown seller without a track record. Good luck!
