Vintage Speedy Pro...post moon landing; pre-Luminova...gotta love the gilt dials and voluptuous chamfer lines!

Thanks for all the advice. The idea of selling a couple to perhaps fund a 'grail' was not something I had considered but the idea is really starting to grown on me.

If you're looking for alternatives, always visit Omega first. You're not a watch enthusiast until you've owned a Speedmaster

depends on your intents. flipping and trading? Rolex and PP. Personally my small "forever collection" will include a DJ, Pepsi (preferably K serial), B01 Navi, and Speedy Pro.

So, after a couple of years on here and being a daily reader, I have managed to build myself a modest Rolex collection. I have the Hulk, the Sub C LN, the white Milgauss and the Sea Dweller 16600. Also had a moment of madness and picked up a Uboat 😳🙈

The question now is, do I continue to build the Rolex collection or shall I throw another brand into the mix? I can't really afford AP or Patek so I was thinking maybe a Cartier, Panerai, Omega or even a Zenith?

Your opinions and thoughts would be most welcome
i would switch it up. im not uber wealthy so i have to be more picky about purchases. also i like bigger watches since i have 8" wrists and im a big guy.
with that said i dont want watches that look to much the same to me. not with all the variety out there.

if i could have all of them right now my small collection would look like this.

rolex dssd

omega planet ocean xl 8500 movt.

panerai 422

breitling super avenger 2. (i know i know, but i love the big watch :) )

those are all pretty different watches imo, which gives me some change of scenery.....

Try a Grand Seiko if you like them. I bet you wont be disappointed and if you are just flip it.

You need a dresswatch, a Cartier Tank perhaps?

I'd go for a WorldTimer, a great complication that Rolex does not do anything with (except its pocket watch, #4262). There are many mechanical automatics at reasonable prices ($3k - $15k). I have an FC 718, a beautiful piece in limited edition, very affordable and great to wear.

Mix when you find the one you will like more or at least as much as the ones you have. Otherwise when the honeymoon is over you may find yourself with just another watch. my 2c.

I would take a look at Panerai, Omega or Zenith, forget about Cartier, and see what smiles at you.

...and as someone mentioned, a nice vintage Speedy Pro. I have heard many people say, even if you don't like Rolex, every collection should have a Submariner. I happen to feel the same way about the Omega Speedmaster, here is my circa 1966. Another watch with a rich history.

Do that and get a Nautilus or a Lange 1, whatever floats your boat
