Datejust 116200 - no red date?
Hi!
I purchased a new datejust 116200 with silver dial + sticks today from Rolex by Wempe in New York. I noticed that the even and odd dates are black instead of alternating red and black. It is a random serial model. Should I be concerned or anyone have the same experience? The sale person said she checked another silver dial version and concluded that silver dial versions do not come in red dates. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks |

Silver dial have never come with red/black datewheel. Moreover red/black datewheel is now reserved to rolesor model , including 116234 but not 116200. It's like that since 2012. |

Silver dial does not come with a roulette wheel.
Here's a list of models that do come with a roulette wheel (look for the asterisk): |

I am no expert on the hidden subtleties of Rolex watches, but I also purchased a 116234 on Saturday, from a local AD in Northern NJ. Roman on rhodium, all black dates. When shopping over the last few months, I did see a DD with a red date in the window, but I can not recall the specific model. Enjoy!

Yeah, my silver dial 116200 random serial doesn't have the roulette date wheel. My local AD had three of these--blue, black, and silver. The black and blue had roulette wheels, and the silver a black wheel. I was however told that I can have the dial, and date wheel changed during a future service, but I don't think I'll be opting for that.
Edited to add: I love the roulette wheels on vintage pieces, but for some reason not a big fan on modern models. |

These are all pre-2010 116200 models:
Here's a silver dial, roulette date wheel: http://www.watchclub.com/w1538/rolex...ette-date.html And yet another: http://cda.chronomania.net/forum_entry.php?id=59182 I remembered seeing this ad here on TRF, and wondered how this silver dial had a roulette wheel: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=284949 |

Previous picture was extracted from 2012/2013 Master catalog, the current one. There was the same sentence in the 2011/2012 MCat, it's when this sentence limiting to Rolesor appeared. Your AD may have received this watch in february, but coming from another stock (at Rolex HQ). The only way to be sure would be to find a 116200 G8xx or G9xx serie. Random are too "old" now, since 2010. |

ADs can only offer a number wheel option that Rolex authorizes. So on new DJs it would have to be dial-based. Not every dial meets the rule...
