Service Questions

I want to send in a T serial 16710 to Rolex NY.

All i want them to do is clean the inside and out, test it and adjust for accurate timekeeping, and reassure me of its waterproof-ness.

What I absolutely do not want is any polishing, or any cosmetic replacements.

Is this something that I need to worry about? If I am very clear with my instructions will they follow them?

Thank you.

You can specify exactly what you want but there is not a problem for the RSC to polish any watch.

Send it to Rik or ABC. Why send it to RSC and risk it? I wouldn't want to pay the premium for RSC anyways......(and that is coming from someone who just spent nearly $3k on a service)

ABC is in CA. and Rik is in FL. I'm on the west coast and have used ABC several times, their work and turn around is fantastic. I have heard the same about Rik.

I second Rik at Timcare inc. He has just completed complete service of an early 80's TT DJ for a good friend on my recommendation and it was fantastic. He's done work for me in the past as well, and it is always fast and flawless.

If you send it to him he will do what you want and nothing you don't. He will suggest parts that are needed, but if he suggests them you need to heed his advice. He hold the highest standards for quality, adheres strictly to Rolex policy, and for me does a better job than they do. We sometimes hear about problems from RSC's in the US, but we never have had a complaint about Rik that I'm aware of.

Rik is great. I've also had great results with Dalton at ABC. There are many other great watchmakers around. It is important that we support our watchmakers. It's a dying skill with fewer and fewer artisans every year. I worry that some day in the future watch owners won't have alternatives for service besides the manufacturer.
