What's everyone's opinion on this model? I haven't really paid any attention to it till today. I'm so close to liking it, but I just can't seem to. I like the 47mm 1940's case and all, but I just can't stand the date function and the spring bar lugs. If it had no date, and screw down lugs, I'd be all over it. I guess I just really want a 399. Actually, I'd love to see a 399 without the seconds hand!

I think the slim looking 1940s case makes the dial look huge. If you like that type of thing, go for it. It looks out of proportion to me. The heftier case of something like a 372 just flows better to me with a dial this size.

I own the 514, great dress watch and you're right, the dial felt out of proportion to me as well in the beginning. Once wearing the watch for a while, it kind of settled and I love it. I also own the 372 and 233 - hard to get away with a 372 in a suit. The 233 also has a hard time fitting under shirt cuffs.

IMHO, 512 over 514 (prefer no date for this model, plus more thin).

If only they made a 47mm version of the 512...

Nicuser123, how do you feel about the spring bar lug system? I really don't understand why they chose to go away from the screw bars...

Spring bars have not been a problem - actually really easy to change straps if you have the right tools. I purchased a Bergeon No. 6111 tool which makes the process a breeze. Really cool that the strap width is 26mm which allows me to also use straps on the 372.
