Had both together for a year or so, it was neck and neck, in the end i chose my SD because it had lugholes.
If the LV had lugholes, i would probably still have both. |

I've been looking at both of them and will probably go with the better deal. I've been looking at many ads, and many claim the watch is mint. But yet on the pictures the bracelet is clearly stretched. I have called some of these places and stated the watch has been polished. After polishing and stating the watch is mint I feel the ad is misleading and not an accurate description. Any advice.

If I could only have one, I'd go with the LV. It really depends on your current collection though. Can't go wrong either way.

Two great choices, assuming we are talking about the 16610 and not the latest ceramic version LV. The SD (as others have mentioned on this thread) is also an icon. Both had pretty decent production runs, so if you're looking for appreciation, I suggest you check out a mark I LV or vintage SD.
Good luck. |

I'm wearing my lug-holed SD as I type this post. The LV (F series, purchased in 2003) is in the safe. The LV is the more valuable of the two watches, but the SD is an understated Rolex masterpiece.

LV for me.
The SD is a great watch, but I am a cyclops man and love the maxi dials.

Not so tough for me
I have both, a matte 16660 and 2003 16610LV, if I had to sell one...........it would be the LV. Being green isnt me.

tough choice but SD4000 for me
although I love the Maxidial on LV and have one with the black insert, somehow I still gravitate to SD. Maybe the smaller indices and hands makes the watch look cleaner and less cluttered and without the cyclop.

Collectibility factor definitely goes to the LV. I got 2, D-series SDs. I was thinking of getting rid of one and getting the LV instead.
But I can never get myself to do it. When I look at the thick case of the SD, the thicker crystal, the thicker bezel and the He escape valve, the 4000ft depth rating, way in hell will I trade it for an LV. In fact, the only watch I will trade my SD for would another DSSD, Trade up not down. Infact, there is nothing in the ROLEX lineup for which I sacrifice my SD except for the DSSD.,,,and I will think long and hard before doing it. The LV is definitely worth it, after all, it is a SUB man!! How can you go wrong with a sub?? I find the SD a little boring and colorless when doing a quick compare with the LV ... I love the green insert of the LV and maxidial .. it breaks up the blk blk monotony of these divers, and adds a little color to the sub, beautifully and subtly...but when you do detailed comparison with the features of the SD mentioned, the SD stays. So, I am saving money for the LV ...sometimes this year I will get the LV. |

Two great choices, but I don't think either is that collectible IMO.
I'd go for the seadweller if you want something that is a bit under the radar. Good luck in your decision. |
