I recently got a SS YM and it is extremely hard to see with the PT dial, but I found it at the 6 with a 10X loop

Try shining the light across the face from the left to right side, tricky to find/see, but it's there at the 6 o'clock position

I also noticed they show up better underwater, but that would be an odd place to find a Rolex

There's an Explorer picture just below your post that shows the etched coronet at ten o'clock.
My Explorer has the EC at six o'clock. It's really not that hard to see when you know where it is, but it does require a high-power magnifying glass and the proper angle to the light for me to see it. Why do you think that Explorers don't have the EC? |

Wow Well I never knew they were there. I've just checked my 2006 Z series sub and my 2010 V series TT GMT IIC and there it was both a 6 o'clock. Also ckecked my Milgauss GV but like Neil has already mentioned it ain't there.
I like little touches like that I think that's what makes Rolex so great. Paul

Cannot see any reason for anyone to steal any sapphire crystal, a sapphire crystal is just simply a sapphire crystal.Man made Sapphire crystals are just crystallised aluminium oxide no matter who the manufacture is.And as long as you buy any Rolex from a reliable source why even bother straining your eyes to look for the LEC.

A drop of water at the 6 will magnify it

Welcome to TRF. Since the Sea Dweller does not have the Cyclops it can often be found in other spots than at the 6 position. That is if the Sea Dweller is new enough that it would have had it. Rolex started introducing this feature in 2001.

I just bought a sub c non date, with the led on my iphone I can see the coronet at the 6 o'clock without using a loupe. Just shine the led light at an angle.
