My experience with the RSC in NYC has been excellent.
I have both dropped off and mailed watches to them for service both in and out of warranty. Watches sent in for service under warranty do not receive a no charge "touch up" polish. |

I was told the PA ones handles all work needed under warranty. Saw good reviews by them in the past.

His name is Rik Dietel at Timecare Inc. .com. Just had my 17 year old TT Sub serviced and his work is second to none. And you will have your timepiece back in about 3 weeks from the day you mail it to him.

My 43-YO GMT has been serviced numerous times, always local, and my only experience with RSC is with my new-to-me Daytona. It was serviced shortly before I bought it and it looks brand new, not a scratch or flaw anywhere to be found, even on the PCL bracelet. It runs about +5/day fast, barely within COSC specs, but that is my only minor complaint.
That said, I will send my watches, including the GMT and Tudor Big Block chrono, to Rikki when service is needed on them. His prices are reasonable and reputation solid, so what more can I expect from a craftsman?

Although I a sure any Indy watchmaker can service just as good, from what I have read and seen in some videos the RSC seem to do tasks which I am not sure all or even watchmakers do due to equipment, such as the thorough cleaning RSC does by running the parts through at high tech washing and degreasing machine... Please correct me if I am wrong.

FYI - the school was opened and is fully funded by Rolex as the watchmaking industry is a dying skill.

If I knew then what I know now
I would have sent my watch to Rikki. In the last three days there have been three people come to this forum seeking advice and help on problems with RSC NY trying to upsell bracelets or other issues with their service. The numbers are growing.. Its evident to me that some people are happy with their service and others are not. Sending your watch to Rolex NY should not be a crap shoot.
If so many people come here in three days who know about this website, how about the thousands that don't and have had a bad experience and just don't know to come here and express it. |

Rik's the man! He's worked on a few of my watches, and once I had to send a watch back to him because of some continued issues. My point is, no one gets everything 100% perfect the first time. Did RSC really flat-out refuse to polish the watch if you sent it back, and was "Refinish case/bracelet, $0" on page 1 of your original estimate?
RSC NY only just started doing those "satisfaction survey" cards this year so maybe they're aware of their QC dilemma. |

He didn't even say anything like is there anyway we can make this right? he had no empathy for me, and just defended the estimators position of recommending a new bracelet, and mine was beyond repair. I've been retired for 13 years. My watch sees no hard time. Over the last year because of my sickness I haven't worn the watch 30 days. ( i've spent too much time in the hospital 30 days one time 14 days the second time and a lot of bed time at home.) Thank you for not making me feel like an ass for posting. Bill FYI Just called about send my bracelet to MY. FedEx wanted 76 dollars plus insurance 13.95.just for the bracelet. USPS wants 52 dollars plus 15 dollars insurance 6 to ten day delivery. Michael Y told me via email his cost to send my bracelet back to me via USPS was 28 dollars which includes insurance. actually its my cost to have him send it back to me. I can't find out why I cant get a similar rate from USPS here and why is it double to send it to him.? Also on the survey card it says check here if we can get back to you in 6 to 8 weeks. I wrote on that line that they could call me tomorrow or in the middle of the night. |

Bill, that is brutal. I don't think they've ever sent me an estimate that didn't say "refinish case/bracelet" as one item. That is baffling that they're so unwilling to refinish it! Good luck with everything; maybe you can try a NATO while you send the bracelet off.

These RSC stories are becoming more and more common lately. This level of QC goes in the exact opposite direction of the image Rolex works so hard to create.

I have used Dallas RSC the last 2 times. Around $600 both times and comes back looking like new. Sorry to hear about the bad experiences but as was said earlier there must be thousands of very satisfied customers compared to unhappy ones. That being said scratching the watch is inexcusable.
