5513 Bezel choice
My 5513 is just finishing a service at my Rolex dealer. He offered me a new bezel as my existing bezel list the pearl years ago. 1972 watch and the bezel looks better in these
Photos. What should I do? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Keep the original. If he is offering an extra, maybe that's what you do, but DO NOT let him keep your original.
Missing the pearl is common and is part of the watch. You can buy replacement pearls if you choose to go that route. -S |

Thanks for the advice. Do you know where I can source one without the new style metal ring like OFrei sells?
Yes, he will sell me the new one and put on whichever I want. He doesn't want the old one. |

I really like your old one, even without the pearl.

I'll trade you a factory service insert with lumi pearl for your old and disheveled, nearly worthless pearless old insert.
DON'T DO IT NO MATTER WHAT Actually, is that the original insert without the pearl? Could be the photo but are you sure it is original rolex?

I'll have to pass on the trade and it's the one that came on the watch when I bought it from the Rolex dealer in 1973. I think I'll hang on to it as the owner asked me if I'd like to trade it for the service on the watch. That was my first clue old is good. The insert next to the fat one is a service one that they just took out of the envelope.

Linesiders was joking. I think he posted that just in case you get PM's like that. Have him take the pearl out of the new and install in the old. Simple 5 min. Job and use the original.

I was pretty much kidding but I would be foolish not to make that trade and you would be semi-foolish to trade it unless you desired the later style font.
My only question on the authenticity of the insert was with the blur / glare on the insert on the left makes the 4 in 40 look odd to me. Again, sharp photos would clear that up.

I'm traveling and just talked to them about the original insert. He told me he could put in a new style pearl he has in the shop but it would not be original to the watch. I think I'll go that way. No charge for the pearl as it is used.
So now, I have him put the old one back in with the newerish pearl and just keep the new one for a spare along with the extra crystal and crown. |
