So, what about your predictions?
What I guessed right: the new Pearlmaster, the diamonds on the Daytona and the everose Sky-Dweller on bracelet.
What I partially guessed: the GMT II, as I said that it would have been in white gold but with the coke bezel. I also predicted some new dress watches so maybe the new Cellini line can be included here. What I predicted and didn't happen: the Submariner on rubber, the black ceramic Daytona in white gold, the wider symmetric case for the yellow gold Daytona with bracelet and the DateJust II with jubilée bracelet. What I totally missed: the new SeaDweller and the blue Milgauss. And you? |

Moon phase and I have to say that after the teaser video last week I was sure I nailed it.
I'm still trying to figure out what that video meant with the ultra fine bezel and Matt finish on the dotless crown.

I've guessed for the intro of the Pepsi GMT, but didn't expect the SD at all. I thought with the DSSD, Rolex will never get the SD4000 back. But I'm glad they did.
I've also expected the all-gold Daytona-C on gold bracelet. It wasn't unveiled, but now I'm 100% sure it will be rolled out next year, along with the SS GMT IIC "Coke". I've also wanted to finally get a factory rubber strap with deployant for the Sub-C, but I never actually expected Rolex to make such a strap. It may happen sometime, but for many of us I think it will stay a dream for a few years (or decades) :( If it finally happens, it will be a great time for Rolex to introduce the Sub in everose gold as well. What I'm still hoping (but not expecting) for the next Basel is that Rolex comes up with a special stainless steel or gold composition that is completely black, without the need to have a coating (PVD, DLC). That would enable them to jump on the black watch bandwagon without the need to use coating, without using forged carbon or other odd materials, and without using brittle ceramics. That would be a HUGE hit for Rolex, but I'm not sure if they want to do that at all...

Only thing I really got right was no ceramic SS Daytona or would ever be, and after the Pepsi WG I am even more convinced the ceramic bezels will only be for precious metals. Rolex is moving upmarket and clearly distinguishing SS from PM.

Well, I like to take the honour for predicting the new SeaDweller - in 2010!
