You're not supposed to do anything. If you plan on keeping the watch - I would sell the packaging. I made over $300 selling my box and accessories.

Why keep it....? Unless...

However, if you plan on flipping the watch -- I would consider keeping the box. Only because re-sale value seems to hold-up better when it's a complete package.

Personally, I would rather save money and purchase a watch only. But that's just me.

Just like Apple, when you have a product that has been meticulously designed and engineered to perfection you have packaging that reflects that level of commitment. The experience of receiving and opening the packaging must also live up to the level of importance and excitement of the moment. When you buy the watch would you like it to be handed to you in a ziplock plastic bag? :)

I'm glad you brought up Apple. That's my point, you have these beautiful iPhones/iPads and they are packaged in disposable cardboard or plastic coffins. They are minimalist and don't have elaborate packaging.

Haha, thanks that was just my rather poor attempt at humor. I don't really do anything with boxes for shoes, watches, etc... Seems like a lot of trouble selling a box for $300, I wouldn't even know where to start. If my kids didn't make a lego fort out of my Rolex's boxes my cleaning service probably threw them out. Oh well.

Apple's packaging reflects simplicity and minimalism because that is the company's ethos and approach to the world. Steve Jobs believed computers should be simple, beautiful, and easy to use. Their packaging reflects those principles.

Rolex on the other hand has a different ethos: elegance, influence, excellence, prestige, etc. Also they have strong symbolism with their Oyster case. Their boxes reflect their ethos as well as a mollusc opening up to reveal the oyster inside.

A lot of trouble? Snap a couple of pics and throw it on eBay or...sell it right here on TRF. $300+ for some packaging that would normally just sit in my closet and collect dust?? ...I call a good deal.

Send me your boxes -- I will gladly take them off your hands.

I'll tell you what next time I have my hands on one those green boxes (hopefully not long after the SDC 4000 hits stores), your welcome to it. As long as your not a Yankees fan.

Sick! I wonder if that is how Rolex intended for us to use the boxes. Rather than most of us who hide these items in closets, etc.

I keep them. I leave one on my dresser as a resting place for whichever of my two watches I'm not currently wearing. If/when you flip some buyers attach a value to the fact you have all original boxes, tags, etc. I also see boxes for sale on ebay. And....I recently noticed an online grey dealer who offers $100 for boxes.

My box is a virgin - it's never been defiled by a real watch. And like all of my other virginal relics, I keep it in a special drawer. With potpourri.

Only watch box I used regularly is my Bell and Ross. The size is perfect for holding multiple straps. The rest are tucked away.

Throw them in a bigger box with others so they're not lonely & retire them to the loft & all paperwork is stored elsewhere

I store them in a cool, dark place, in case of resale one day.

I put it in a box somewhere in the garage... Not for resale purposes, just don't want to throw it away...

In a closet. The watches (except a couple) in a bank vault. Funny thing is, if a burglar ever broke into my house and opened the closet, he'd think I was a box collector! All those boxes and just one watch (I'd be wearing one.)
