I really like the no date and wanted one with good lume and all the upgrades. I got what I wanted which works for me. I like having the possibility of one watch which can be easily switched out and modifed and one which is new school. it works for me.

Not that I don't like the Exp. I have one in the guise of an EXPII which I love a lot. I really also like having lume all the way around and a moving bezel.

So that's all good then. Did you try the 114060 for size and feel at an AD before buying online?

No but I have experience with larger watches and really like the feel of it on my wrist. the biggest issue has been the tendency to play with the band adjustment. On the older watches I have I sort of adjust and leave them. No links have had to be removed. This one had three removed and I'm still futzing.

There is your answer. The 14060 and 39 Explorer make a great pair.

Just don't see the point in two of (virtually) the same kind.

Very true and this particular woman has her own special brands that she will buy that seem insane to me.

They both have the same function as far as what they do WRT to keeping time and water resistance that is true; I like that. However my 14060 doesn't have a maxi dial with super luminova markers, it has tritium markers. The 114060 doesn't have lug holes and interchangeability of dial inserts.

On the other hand the Exp 1 doesn't have the rotating bezel nor markers at all points of the dial which is something I really like about the Subs and would miss if I got the Exp. My 14060 has an alter ego as a standout eye tickler and is easily transformed. That is something that the neither the Exp nor the 114060 will ever do.

Like I said, I really want the upgrades of the new Sub; more likely than not owning the new Sub would be the sale of the old one, but not now.

Keep the new sub, sell the old one - then buy another Rolex.

They just don't understand.
At the risk of Forum Heresy, frankly I just don't understand either... why not a classic GMT for half that price. Or a genuinely rare watch for $10K...

Same reason that I've got both an 14060 and 114060; very different watches. One pays for the latest and greatest advancements.

I think it's best to avoid asking folks to second guess a decision that's already bought and paid for. For every answer you want to hear, there will be one that you don't.

given the fact that you swim 5 days a week the 114060 has your name on it. I'm sure you would love the new bracelet, clasp, bezel, size.

Nah, it's all in good fun. I don't care whether or not people would have made my decision. They aren't me.

It does give me thought; I really wanted an 114060 regardless of what other watches I own. It's not as if an 14060 is worthless as a trade at some point in the future.

Well, it's time to say good bye to the new watch having tracked its timing for 36 hours how. It's operating within COSC and will be out of warranty by the time I'm actually given it for my birthday. I'll look forward to wearing it in a bit over a month.
