Opinion on bracelet stretch

Hi all,

I recently bought this datejust - 1990 and just back from a full service etc.

Please be honest, how bad do you think the bracelet stretch is and do you recommend replacing the bracelet?

Also how long do you think this one has got left?

I've always had brand new rolex models before and stretch is new to me.

Cheers and appreciate your honesty.

You've got life left in that, it's been used but it's not super bad. When and if it does get bad think Michael Young rather than a replacement bracelet!

You've got plenty of life left and when necessary, don't replace it. Send it to michael young and have it brought back to life for a fraction of a replacement.

Pretty DJ!

Jubilee bands are a good bit more flexible than the oyster band (which is why they are more comfortable), so they often look more "stretched" than they really are.

This one has years to go and, as previously mentioned, you can send it off to Michael Young when it needs some attention.

BTW, you do know that it isn't really stretched, right..?

Nice Datejust! The bad looks ok. Like these guys said, lots of life left. My white dial Romans says hello:

Doesn't look bad at all.

This one is about due for a Hong Kong vacation though:

Barely broke in. Keep it clean, wear it on the snug side, and it will remain like this for decades.

Another in agreement for you here I think it looks perfectly fine and should be really comfy on the wrist as it is just broken in. Lets see some wrist shots

No...looks OK. Like someone said, the Jubilee has a bit more flexibility. Here's a pic of my 3-year old DJ's bracelet for your comparison.

The classic jubilee vs the super jubilee is not quite a fair comparison, IMHO.

That would look good on a leather strap, perhaps even a NATO...

Your stretch is not bad at all... And when time comes, send it on a 4 week trip to Hong Kong... you will be so glad you did when it arrives back

Not bad at all, give it a good cleaning with an old tooth brush every couple of weeks and with an ultrasonic cleaner once or twice a year and you may never need to replace it in your lifetime.

I've seen much much worse here. I'd say you have years and years left. As others have said keeping it clean will help quite a bit with the "stretch".

As will wearing it towards snug rather than flopping around.

Every 6 mos. to a year, depending on your wear habits, giving it a dip in an ultrasonic cleaner will prolong its life.
