Get the GMTC (if you were me).
Haha, the new one can be the favorite. But it's hard to beat the Daytona. Especially with so many awesome dials.

"flip for GMT-II C. Would make a great vacation and weekend watch. And a collection should have a GMT. "

This would be my vote, but only if you like the GMT or need the complication. Never because a collection should have this or that.

GMT2c. It is a great watch for many settings. Or EXP II if you want something a little more casual.

Based on your comments, the 116234 would suit you best in opinion. The Datejust is more dressy than the Daytona, GMT IIc and the DJ2. It would bring a great diversity to your current collection. Not as dressy as a Cellini, but will work great with suits. My 116231 is one of my first go to watches when I wear a suit (5 days a week at least).

Thanks for the advice so far, really leaning towards the GMT IIC now, and then saving for the DJ.

sell or flip the DJ II and get what you want and what you'll use. the GMT (new or old) are winners.

Thank you for the input everyone, I have decided to list the DJII for sale and then use those funds to grab one of those other two watches!

Cool! My philosophy had been " if I don't wear it, flip it"! Gmtiic would be nice or so would a nice vintage pepsi.

GMT is great, but there is life beyond Rolex.

Why not Panerai or IWC? Very nice references within your budget.

I ended up trading for an LVc, now I can't ever decide which I want to wear, my Deepsea or LVc, Can't get enough of either.

In my opinion that's how it should be with this hobby. Not one you sort of like because it looks good, they all look good, don't they....but which can't you stop looking at... That's the one you want to keep.
Ok this is spot on

Ever since getting my white dial Daytona, my DJII has gotten zero wrist time. Sometimes I put it on out of guilt, but then I can't wait to take it off and put my Daytona back on. I've also am not keen on the dial, really wish there was a Roman white dial option).

I'm considering flipping the DJII. I also think it's a little large, even though it's only 1 lmm smaller than my Daytona, the size difference is noticeable. And it's also pretty big for a dress watch (yes Ken, I know that Cellini is technically the only Rolex dress watch).

So I'm considering a few options and would love some input.

- keep it and see if the love comes back

- flip for GMT-II C. Would make a great vacation and weekend watch. And a collection should have a GMT.

- flip for a 116234 white roman dial, jubilee, and fluted bezel. This would become my daily and I may put a different dial on my Daytona to become more sporty

- flip for something non-rolex (max budget of $8k)

Thanks for reading my verbose post. And I'll throw in some pics for fun.
I agree with the direction you are leaning...I'd flip for the GMT 11 in a heartbeat.
