Question on a "collectors" piece.

I am graciously falling into a collectors unworn piece from 2004. I think I should buy one similar to it and hold on to the "collector" and keep it for posterity. Am I being anal or is it normal? I hate to wear it and muck it up when I could easily hold on to it and have a museum piece to keep for a while. Your thoughts?

If it's a model thats still being produced or was produced for a number of years. Not worth buying or paying any premium for it if the seller is asking a high price.

Most safe queens that are un-used are very limited editions or low production numbered and discontinued models.

Even these have fallen in price a bit

Sometimes it is hard to find and buy an older piece in great condition because you would be afraid to wear it... at the end, the piece has to make you happy whether its on your wrist or in your safe. With this said, I prefer wearing my watches.

I never understood the whole "safe queen" concept.

I could keep the "unworn" piece in question and purchase a daily wearer similar to it. I mean how many "unworn" pieces from 2004 are there out there?

Without trying to sound like an smart a$$, who cares how many unworn pieces are out there? While I understand your passion for the older piece, what's the fun of storing it in a vault? The thing I like about nice watches is that after years of wearing them, they can be serviced, cleaned up and made like new again., literally.
Buy it, wear it and enjoy it.

I'll be honest. I don't see any of the 2004 models appreciating a lot from where they are. But that is what might make the collectible eventually I guess. No one collects collectibles in the future.

What are you looking at? 187, 192,194? I'm guessing 192.
