looking to purchase first rolex
so I have a couple find time pieces but want to now buy a rolex. I wanted to know what are my best options for the best price. Can someone PM me any good ADs. Also what is usually the best percentage an AD can give you for a new watch? Specifically I want to buy a DateJust II with the fluted bezel which retails for 9100. I would like new but I am open to buying used if the watch was in mint condition. I have seen a few for about 7000 and up.
Also last question pertaining to this and the pricing. I want the fluted bezel specifically but I have seen the non fluted bezel go new for about 6500 if I could not get the deal for a new one at 9100 down to 7500 could I buy a non fluted bezel and then buy the fluted bezel and a jeweler install it? I have seen the fluted bezels for sale for about 1000. Am I going to have issues with Rolex in the future for servicing etc? Thank you in advance |

I personally would not recommend after-market changes. Depending on the watch and the AD, in the D.C. area I've been quoted between 5 - 20% discount. But it really depends on the specific watch, and if the AD is pretty large (large volume dealers can offer a bit more of a discount, in my experience).
Another option are the trusted sellers on this site. Some of them sell new watches. You may have to be a Pledge member to buy, I am not sure. Do NOT buy off ebay or other such sites, IMO. Unless you are very experienced. Many fakes on those sites. |

Good advice from John, but just clarify anyone can buy, not just pledge members.

Thank you appreciate the advice. I am semi experienced I have a planet ocean bought from an ad for 30% but really does not handle Rolex. I did buy a tag on eBay and good results as it was legit. I actually want to sell the tag to throw 1000 to 1500 to this purchase.
