Funny how often you see a ding and have no idea how it happened while at other times you totally bash your watch against something and when you investigate the nature of the carnage you must surely have caused there is absolutely nothing there.

Went cage diving last week with my sub on off the coast of Cape Town.
The seas were rough, very rough and got battered about inside the cage, although I new that with the 4.5m great white sharks outside I was much safer where I was. After leaving the cage I noticed that my bracelet and sapphire glass had taken a hammering and both were scratched up. Flying back to London tomorrow with a first stop to Rolex HQ to assess the damage. Although these do make a very good story, when someone asks about the scratches. Battle Damage maybe......... |

Cool story. Upload pics if possible so we can assess damage. If it's not bad better to leave it perhaps!? Inviato dal mio iPhone utilizzando Tapatalk

Yep, happens all the time, crack it against a metal door or under the table, no damage. Drying my Sub after its weekly washing and, hmmm... where in the he!! did that scratch come from...

I have both mac book rash on the clasp and a scrape on the link near the bezel, which I got banging the watch against my antique metal rimmed night stand.
I bought a watch polishing kit off the internet, including jeweler's paper for sanding brushed SS, but can't bring myself to use it. So I'll live with the dings. |

Some say battle scars - I say service stripes. It's what makes it yours. Now wear the day lights out of that watch and enjoy it. Life is short.

I agree with the "scratches are inevitable" mindset, but I can't help but cringe every time I even touch mine against anything. I remember my first Rolex -- I wore the crap out of it and I had such great memories with it. Scratches = memories.

I've trained my eye to not see such things. Works on my car too.
