Hi Lurch,

And a big welcome to TRF. To answer the first part of your question, all Rollies manufactured today are automatic. Manual winding models were discontinued quite a few years ago.

Sorry, but the second part of your question is not very clear. Perhaps you could rephrase it? Thanks.

JJ

current production AirKings are perpetual precisions are the only ones I know of. There might be more, check out www.rolex.com for more possible precisions. Precision is the name associated with non COSC movements, technically a 14060M is a precision..... hope this helps.

Not only that Al, but Rolex makes the Oyster Precision Date, a tad smaller than the DJ. Finwhiz used to have one.

thanks guys

more specifically im trying to find out if a watch i own is manual or automatic

its a gold plated precision with the case stamped 6466

unfortunalty the rolex case tool i have is a cheap and might damage the gold plate so im not taking off the back to see the movement

but the watch seems to tick if i shake it a little and keeps perfect time if i wear it on my wrist for a while, but i wondered if it cold be a broken manual wind that needs a little jolt to get it started, as someone told me that all rolex precision models were manual wind

i have since found that this isnt true as the air king precision is manual wind, but id like to be certain my watch is auto before i sell it as an auto watch

If your watch is plated, it's an older model, from the early 60s or even 50s, and it likely is a manual wind. Take it to a watch maker and have him crack the case and get that baby up and running.
