Rolex Service Center Scratched my Watch

I was at the San Francisco authorized service center and asked if they had a red/black insert for my 16710. I currently have the red/blue insert. They changed out the insert while I waited. I was in awe of the new look this gave the 16710 that I paid and walked out and was able to keep the red/blue insert.

While working I noticed what I thought was a smudge mark on my watch. So I removed my watch only to realize my watch had been scratched. Probably due to a watch vice that the service center used to hold my watch while replacing the insert. There are two distinctive marks. I was only able to photograph one of the scratches as the other one wouldn't appear with my IPhone.

At first I was annoyed. Then I thought about it for a second, put my watch back on my wrist, shrugged my shoulders and continued working. At the end of the day, for me it's just a watch and I have no intentions of having this polished (bracelet or case) when it goes in for servicing later this year. Cheers!

They won't do it in Hong Kong. They will only replace like with like. I tried it a few weeks ago. They won't let you keep the original either.

It's a very SAD day when a watchmaker cannot exchange a bezel insert without causing damage to a case. (Shaking head)

For the good of all, at least notify them of their error....it's the right thing to do.

Sorry to hear that. I heard only good things about their work. Was it Giovanni who worked on your watch ? After reading this and some horror stories about RSC Dallas I'm running out of ideas where to have my next service done.

I'm sorry to hear this and surprised actually. I've been there a few times and my wife had a link installed on her watch and the work was outstanding including all the cool guys who work there. I like that place a lot.

I guess you haven't heard about the multiple service problems faced by a customer from one of "our" watchmakers.

The fact is people make mistakes... Regardless of how simple it may seem.
