An OP I like but it's on Flea-Bay - Opinions?

I like this watch. This is an 18k gold watch, it looks to be normal. Can you see where it might be a risky or 'stay away from' purchase?

Price is a bit steep, but the watch is fine

I would wait and see if RWT can come up with a Zephyr dial for you, then you would have something pretty special, rather than an average eBay OP.

Price is a little high
Description states new leather strap but neglects to say if it's an OEM or aftermarket strap.

More than a bit I'd say.

Y'all really think 3.5k for a solid gold OP is that high? Seems about right to me. Watch looks good, seller doesn't have much feedback though.

This is 18k, not 14k. Seems a little high. I would say worth $3,000.
If 14k, would probably drop to $2,000- 2,250.

Chris, if you can find an 18k OP like that for $2,250, I'll take two, please.

They do come up from time to time, there was an 18kt OP date I was looking at on eBay around a month ago that sold for $2,250, around the same time there was an 18kt OP With the original buckle with an immaculate white honeycomb dial that they were asking $2,500 for and it had to be relisted a few times.

I think vintage 34mm gold is a bargain, that's why it's the next one on my list.

All I'm saying is for almost $3500 it seems a little high if it's not a Rolex leather band with gold Rolex buckle the price should come down.
He has it listed as being waterproof to 330 feet!
With an acrylic crystal no chance in hell I would even show that watch the water.

To me there's a lot of unknowns for that kind of money and there are better deals to be had.
You asked for opinions, if it were me I'd either get him to come down on price or show me some service records otherwise I'd walk.

Seen far too many people get burned on flea bay

I hope you realize the risks of buying vintage Rolexes on ebay, especially if you are not very experienced. Good luck.

One would ideally like to see photos of the SN and case reference number between the lugs, as well as inner case back to confirm the gold content and a photo of the movement. That is, before plunking down so much $$. Not too mention higher resolution photos of the dial!

I don't think it's a bargain. For 18k I think that is in the price range...but that watch doesn't blow me away. If you hang tight you can probably buy a 1601 in 18k for that. Then you have dial options out the wazoo.

Don't worry so much about buying on the bay but run them by everyone first. I don't mind commenting if you need help for one.

I'll look on the dials today.
