1601 SS/Gold Diamond Datejust Value

Hello,

New member hoping to find some resources for valuing a diamond, vintage 1968 Rolex 1601 model. It is 18k gold and stainless steel and comes with extra links. I have an associate selling it and asking $3,500. Currently, I own a DJ II and know relatively very little about vintage Rolex values and sought after model numbers.

Any advice, links, resources are greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Adam

well the dial and bezel are aftermarket, non original, we need to see if the band is original to give you a price, personally i dont buy these type of franken altered watches

A bit much for a 1601 model if this is a person to person sale. He's charging you what you could probably expect to pay at a retail store...

Don't be fooled by aftermarket diamond dials and bezels either. They have value but not what you would expect. The bezel isn't especially impressive either.

If the dial and bezel are aftermarket, I would also be really careful about that band. Most people who go this far on a vintage watch go all the way and replace the bracelet.

These trade for about half or less of that asking with the fake parts.
