It was a bad picture, the watch was a bit dirty but it is true, look at my other threads I have no interest in being a jerk, lying, making up some stupid story or photoshopping it. If you don't believe me then don't. But I was trying to make a sincere posting. The fact is exactly as I have shown it. It is a 6 month old Submariner that did not have an accident or impact event. Really, I am kind of disappointed in some of the responses.

I'm just trying to help here with this response. I have seen some watches do this when a real dial is put on a fake movement and the dial pins don't line up. The pins are shaved off so the dial will be flat on the movement. When this is done they can rotate, otherwise on a Rolex it is hard to see how this would happen. Both the dial screws and the screws that secure the movement would have to be loose. Also I guess it's possible that someone removed the dial pins. Not sure why anyone would do this.

In this condition the dial could be scratched by the hands near the center of the dial by the hands. I would get it looked at quickly.

I don't understand it but it was bought new from a Rolex AD not second hand. I have the receipt I got for fixing it but don't want to put on forum. I am taking the watch to switzerland personally as I am going there in a month.

Update: the watch was fitted with a new dial by Bucherer on Rue de Rhone in Geneva. Took 5 days. The guy who serviced the watch said he had only seen this happen once before when a watch was subjected to a great shock. But he could tell that this Submariner had not even been dropped. No sign of damage. He couldn't explain it.

You should have left it like that... You would have had the only Rolex American 1921 special edition!! Was it keeping correct time, when the dial was off?

Glad you were able to get this resolved, very off indeed. I personally have never seem such a thing before either but doesn't mean it cannot happen as it did to you. All is well that ends well
