I got a great story for you guys. I had a friend that was the director at the YMCA in Greenwich, CT. This was in the mid 1980's. He's sitting at his desk one day and his assistant comes sprinting into his office and says "Paul Newman is out front and wants to see you". He laughs and says "ya sure".

Well after some back and forth he goes out and sure enough Paul Newman is just standing there. The YMCA was going to be remodeled and he had read about it in the paper and wanted to learn about what was going to be done, etc.

My friend gave him a tour, showed him the plans and Newman pulled out his check book and wrote a check for $100k. He said he didn't want a plaque, see it mentioned in the paper or wanted any acknowledgment of the donation at all.

He said he appreciated that the local "Y" was good for the community and left..
