Icon7 Difference between D-BLUE DEEP SEA and older DEEP SEA

What are the major differences? Besides the price. I thinking of purchasing a preowned DSSD for myself and was wondering what the new one has to offer. Anything major?

Thanks ahead of time!!!

Not an expert but the difference to me is the dial. Which is absolutely stunning. I'm sure there are other differences as well

If I could go back and do it over again, I believe I would go with the same black dial. I like the D-Blue, don't get me wrong. It's just the black dial is perfect for me and goes with everything. In a perfect world I would own both!

Dial only, which includes the green writing.

Matte black dial is much nicer IMO

The only difference is in the dial. I prefer the original.

Dial fades from dark black at the bottom to dark blue at the top to represent the oceans depth. The "DEEPSEA" writing is also in green.

The D-Blue did not replace the DSSD, it's just a dial option and sold along side the original.

You can still buy a DSSD and it is the same watch as a used one would be.

I believe that you got your answer above, simply a dial option. And I like my DSSD like I like my coffee, hot and black.

'Classic' Black for me! :)

wears with everything & anything!

The green font just kills the newer version for me much as I like the graduated dial.

Just depends on which dial you like better.
Much more competitive pricing on the black dial, but again, go with the look that suits you.

Its just a bit of blue paint and different colour green fonts nothing more plus a price rise for the extra colour effect.

On the black dials there are different versions, depending on when they were made. Check out the link below:

A local watch dealer speculates that they will discontinue the D Blue Deep Sea when it reaches a certain number. You think this is likely? I personally don't like the dial - so I would think this is an easy way for Rolex to gracefully exit.

There has been a lot of speculation regarding the D-Blue; only Rolex knows what's true.

As for a "graceful exit", considering that they sell every one they make and the waiting list is so long at the Wempe Rolex boutique that they closed the list, I'd say that Rolex has nothing to be ashamed of here.

Adam

Dial is only difference. While I prefer the original, new paint certainly put some life in the sales numbers it would seem.

I'd make sure to get the special Rolex book about the historic dive and watch.

Hard to justify difference for what is a dial colour change, even if nice, that said if it does have limited numbers it may hold value slightly better, although as always noted there is no such thing as a limited edition rolex model these days unless you are buying some of the obscure DJ's that are likely never to be wanted in the future anyway
