1016 Question
Not that I really worry much with this dealer, as he so far really is superb, so I guess this will be good deal as well, I thought it is always cool to get the input of you folks on this one. Not being a professional, you evolve into a worrywart with every watch you buy. I know I drive the folks I buy from crazy ;-).
1966 1016. Dial looks as if it could be a later replacement, not sure on that. Looks not too polished on the images. Not sure if it might be relumed or not. I've been looking for a good 1016 for quite a while, and the price with this one is very fair compared to the other 1016s on the market right now. Crystal seems to be a replacement (hard to tell from the images if it is domed or the later replacement-crystal). Anything I should be aware of before I pull the trigger tomorrow? Really looking forward to your input. If all is okay, I'll be all the more happy to get this, if not, at least I have something to talk about tomorrow. |

I've been on the hunt for a nice 1016 also. While this watch does look very nice, I think the frog foot dial is too new for a '66. Hard to tell much about the crystal based on the angles of the pics, but does not look like the original dome to me. IMO, the T22 is so important aesthetically for this watch, and you'd be hard pressed to find an authentic one down the line.

Yeah, the crystal is a later replacement, the vendor told me so. Pix drove me crazy, as I can't tell which kind of crystal it is :-D. There are okay replacements and way way bad ones. I still wonder why rolex and Omega DO this... I have just passed on an otherwise very nice 165.024 because of a bevelled crystal, domed is SO much nicer. ;-)
Although the price does reflect that, really. Been wondering about the dial, myself. 1966, matte dial... ? |
